| Wow. Its been a long time my dear Xanga. So much has happened since my last post and yet I'm afraid you won't know all the relevant details since our last rendevous. Do not fret my dear Xanga, I did not cheat on you during our time away with those numerous variations of bloggers that only imitate you, but can never duplicate your style and pretty G.U.I. No mam, I'm a committed one blogger man, and that blog would be you my dear. Where to begin since we last left? Well, lets see try to break it down since we last embraced each other in August of 2006. The Missed Marriage My cousin Shahryar got married in Illinois and unfortunately, I did not make the trip thanks to a wretched ear infection that ruined my plans to be airborne. So many memories missed, but I guess it'll all be forgotten in May during his Walima. R.I.P Maxine I lost my dear Maxine in a terrible car accident. I was driving 55 in a 35 mile speed zone and lost control of poor Maxine as we began to turn onto the I-95S ramp. As I hold on to dear life, trying to control her, she spins out of control 3 times, as her low profile tires are no match for hydroplaning. As she spun out on her third rotation, she fell down a ditch on the side of the road, causing her two flip over 2 times. Call it an act of God, or maybe because my beloved mother always keeps me safe in her prayers, but I survived without a single scratch on me! I was UNBREAKABLE. Unfortunately, my mighty steed was not. Her damages were too severe and hence lost her during the incident. As a result of my stupidity and recklessness , I was humbled greatly with my next vehicle, a Chevy Malibu. Since she came into the picture, with her grotesque brown exterior, and her smelly smoke infested interior, she's given me nothing but problems. At present time, her front head light does not work nor does her o2 sensors. She's been more of a curse then a blessing. However, its what I deserve and I've accepted my fate. The New Employer After countless calls to the HR department of T-Mobile to fix my hourly compensation, as well as being relocated to represent the Northern Virginia area, I called it quits with T-Mobile. I wrote a very professional letter addressing my dissatisfaction with the company and its horrendous HR staff that only made themelves available 9-5 during Pacific Standard times. In my letter, I told them that I was officially quitting and that I would take legal action against their horrible practices. In the end, our hero Shahan had won the battle. His last pay check had provided for the retro pay that had been due to him for nearly 8 months. A nice big fat check for 700 was awarded for my troubles. Maybe its not much to you 9-5 professional folk, but for a full time undergrad/part-time working student, it was a VICTORY. Shortly after my departure with the company, I was recruited to Action Link, as an assisted sales specialist. Basically, I represent products that the company wants us to promote at Best Buys and Circuit City for a given week, such as Tom Tom Gos, Toshiba, Olympus, and other clients. Unfortunately, the job has been slow in the last few months, as contracts with these clients have not been coming in. The work had peeked right up until Super Bowl Sunday, where it has been slow ever since. Luckily, I played my cards right and landed a position with Mosaic, as a Movie Programs Merchandiser. Basically, since Best Buy is too lazy to maintain its movie department, I do the grunt work for them. I make sure titles that the major movie studios want up for a given week are represented in high traffic areas of the store. The job is tedious, and my boss is very demanding. Although she is fair, she really wants things done her way and in a timely fashion. Ah well, what can you do, money is money. Double digits an hour is nothing to complain about. A Dangerous Mobile Affair Changing from the Blackberry 8700g to the T-Mobile Dash is one of the biggest decisions I regret. My blackberry had it all. She was loaded with great applications, including Ramble IM, Push-Mail, EDGE internet speed, and a great interface that made texting, typing, messaging, and e-mailing a breeze. That phone did exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, thanks to a hype man of a cousin I have, by the name of Ali Abidi, he enticed me into thinking about moving to the T-Mobile Dash. Apparently, he was getting the phone from a co-worker for 100.00 and told me all the features it had come with. The biggest advantage the phone had over the Blackberry was a expandable SD Card slot, video capability, music capability, built in Wi-Fi, and Windows Mobile 5.0. Because of my ego and never wanting to be outdone in the mobile realm, I called T-Mobile, complained about my Blackberry, and had it switched to the T-Mobile Dash. When the phone first arrived, I was head over heels in love. It was muchhhhhh skinner then the blackberry, had a beautiful bright screen, and of course WI-FI. I felt I was in HEAVEN! Little did I know that it would all crash and burn when I realized how glitchy Windows Mob-Hell 5.0 was. The phone almost always crashes on a daily basis, gets very slow because of an inferior CPU, and it has predictive text on a full QWERTY keyboard, which really gets annoying when typing messages. Worst of all, the Wi-Fi is restricted in order to conserve battery life, so in reality, the phone's Wi-Fi is about the same as EV-DO data on CDMA Phones. O well, I've learned to live with my decision. The phone does play videos and music after all, so I can be annoying as hell with my hip-hop ringtones, and personal movies. Also, I found a lovely website called orb.com, that allows me to stream media content from my laptop directly on the phone using Edge's shitty data speeds, so I guess you win some and lose some. Wii-DICULOUS! Although I had my hopes on getting a PS3 for my birthday, my dear friend Maleeha Bader made my dreams come true by financing the majority of my next generation console fund. As a gift for my birthday, she paid nearly 160.00 to buy me a Nintendo Wii. As luck would have it, I found a NintendoWii sitting in the backroom of the Best Buy, waiting to be purchased by a fanboy. I informed Maleeha of my discovery and in turn she told me I should get it. As I didn't have the funds to purchase it on my own, she rushed to the Best Buy in Arundel Mills coming from UMBC at almost 80 mph right before the store closed and got me the Wii. For her act of generosity and truly loving nature, I can never find a way to repay her. Maybe the Wii doesnt possess the glamour and technologically saviness the PS3 boast, but its FUN AS hell and it was a gift from a very dear friend. The Wii has won the hearts of the entire Rizvi household, as it is the first system my dad has actually played and enjoyed thoroughly (Hes got a meannnnn backhand in tennis.) I know the majority of these landmarks in my life may seem very materialistic, but its my life. So much more has happened but these are the events that come to mind at the moment. More to come my dear Xanga, I promise. Alas, I bid u fairwell. Maybe you won't hear from me immediately, but definetely sooner then later. |
